Additions and Improvements
As the restrictions gradually eased,
at Malvern Wells and Wyche Church we made pipe additions to complete the originally planned for specification adding a Stopped Diapason 8 and Wald Flute 4 to the Choir and a Gemshorn 4 to the Swell.
We often find that there is a “theme” in each year’s work and in 2020 it was organ blowers. At Llangyfelach Parish Church near Swansea, we moved their large blower from the vestry onto the gallery above. In Great Hockham, Norfolk we made and fitted a new blower cabinet to replace their old woodworm damaged one. After lockdown Neath Presbyterian Church discovered that their blower motor failed, possibly due to damp and condensation and we fitted a secondhand replacement.
At Hope Baptist Church Bridgend, we fitted a new diode switching system to a Norman & Beard organ replacing the unreliable multi-contact switching.
In preparation for the rebuild at St John the Baptist Church Lound (more about this next year), we built this three rank extension organ, shown above, with a detached console. This will be on loan to the Church and then probably available for sale.
