Making up for lost time
2021 started with a few weeks furlough but from then things got better.
At the beginning of the year the historic Gern organ from All Saints Church Chelsworth, Suffolk was in the workshop being
prepared for a new location within the Church. Following a phenomenal fund raising effort by the congregation a new kitchen and toilet was built at the west end and the organ installed onto the new gallery above.

We had previously restored the organ action but parts of it needed to be re-configured to fit the new site. It is a typical Gern with a reverse console and the original French style pipes, creating the unique sound. The plain, dull front pipes, were re-painted and stencilled in our works with a bespoke design. To match the woodwork of the gallery we also built a new oak case for the console and organ front.
At Three Crosses Independent Chapel on the Gower Peninsular in South Wales, we restored both Swell and Great drawstop machines on the Blackett and Howden organ. Also at St Mary’s Church East Carleton in Norfolk we re-bushed and re-felted the keys on the delightful little one manual Norman and Beard organ.
