Repairs and improvements
It is most satisfying when our smaller items of repair work result in significant improvements and benefits to the organ.
At St Mary’s Bungay by a minor redesign of the soundboard we were able to achieve a more responsive action with quicker repetition.
At St Mary’s Church North Tuddenham re-making the action to the bottom octave of the pedal bourdon allowed the pipes to speak “as never heard before” and similarly at All Saints’ Church Warham new action to the pedal bourdon improved the reliability and speech of the pipes.
Since it was built, the music desk on the 1899 two manual Norman & Beard in St Margaret’s Church Heveningham has been unsatisfactory, being too upright to allow the music to stay in place. We altered the drawstop action behind the console and re-made the music desk at the correct angle, which greatly pleases the organists.
Pneumatic action repairs and re-leathering continue to be a feature of our work.
At Tabernacle United Reformed Church Mumbles, St Michael’s and All Angels Manselton and St Michael’s Church Boulge we re-leathered primary actions and piston actions.
In West Yorkshire, at St John the Baptist in the Wilderness Cragg Vale, we installed a small, chamber organ, right, which had been purchased for the newly re-ordered Church. To everyone’s delight it was a visual and tonal success.
